Konjac Sponges are created in Japan using roots of the konyakku plant, a food staple for more than 1,500 years in Asian cultures. The vegetable fibers are purified and spun into a puff that is incredibly water-retentive. When used, there is a water barrier between sponge and skin which means it cleanses without scratching or irritating, making it perfect for facial care. This konjac puff cleans so gently it's even used on babies' tender skins.
Soak the Konjac Facial Sponge in warm water for 10-15 minutes until it puffs up and rehydrates. It will expand about 50% and be soft and squishy like sponge cake. Never twist or wring the sponge. To squeeze out excess water, press the Konjac Facial Sponge between the palms of your hands.
Soak briefly in warm water to rehydrate. To use the sponge, wet it and then make a small lather with your favorite facial bar. If you wish, you may also use the sponge alone without any cleanser. Rub in circular motions to remove dirt from the pores without scratching the skin. Your face will love it. Rinse completely, then press between palms to remove excess water. Hang up to dry between uses, with the included string hanger. You may also place the sponge on a soap deck to keep it dry between uses.
After 3 months:
Sanitize the sponge or replace. If you see mold or bacteria growth, do not use the sponge. Some users have briefly boiled it in water to sterilize it, or saturated it in water and microwaved for 20 seconds to sterilize.
6 months - one year:
If you continue to squeeze it dry and hang it to fully dry between uses, it should be good to use for up to a year. We have found that the natural fibers begin falling apart anywhere from 6 months to a year after daily use. If it smells funny, becomes discolored, or looks "off," throw it away and do not continue using. It is a natural product and can, therefore, grow mold or bacteria if not handled properly.
Packaging: There are two options, packaged (with label and instructions) and package-free. Package-free comes with a small unprinted kraft paper wrap to protect it in transit.
