Up-cycle to keep bath, body and beauty containers out of landfills

Update - TerraCycle is winding down collections at retailers - read more here.

All of our containers are recyclable - but your city might not have a recycling program or their program might not be equipped to handle the volume it receives. The sad fact is, 91% of plastics end up in landfills, despite recycling programs.

We are transitioning as many No Tox Life containers as we can to 100% glass, recycled paperboard, and other zero-waste options.

Many beauty companies are still packaging most of their products in plastic. So for containers you have at home and aren't sure how to keep out of landfills, we are accepting them at our retail store!

We have partnered with TerraCycle - a company dedicated to Zero Waste, to help you "upcycle" your plastic beauty containers and keep them out of landfills. Upcycling means taking something that would normally be sent to a landfill and turning it into something new, of higher value!

TerraCycle has an amazing program that will take back any used, clean, empty beauty container (plastic), and melt the plastic into pellets. The pellets are then turned into entirely new products. The plastic container never makes it to a landfill, it takes on a new life.

Check out some of the cool products made using TerraCycle materials.

Ready to up-cycle? Here's what you do:

    • Clean out the plastic container, by rinsing out, wiping out, or scraping out the product. Make sure it's clean and dry. The container can be from ANY brand.
    • This particular box is ok for any bath, body and beauty containers. For example, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, mascara tubes, foundation tubes, mouthwash bottles, etc.
    • Bring it to our retail store (3351 Fletcher Drive, Glassell Park, CA 90065), and put it in our up-cycling box!
    • Need to get rid of extra glass containers? If you clean and sanitize them - see instructions here, you can contribute to your local Buy Nothing group - Buy Nothing groups are local community groups where you can post anything you'd like to give away, lend, or share with your neighbors!
